Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. will open a new 317,000 sq ft outlet center in Alamance County. The Tanger Outlet Center of Mebane will be located at Exit 154 on Interstate 40/85. Scheduled to open in fall 2010, the new outlet center represents a $60 million investment and is planned to be a premiere outlet shopping destination with 80 upscale outlet stores and restaurants. During the year-long construction phase, more than 300 jobs will be created. Tanger center will provide at least 800 full-time and part-time jobs, including retail management and sales positions. Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. is headquartered in Greensboro and has a total of 33 centers in 22 states, totaling approximately 10.2 million sq ft leased to over 2,200 stores operated by 400 different brand-name companies. More than 150 million shoppers visit Tanger Outlet Centers annually.
