Continuing its work to help identify and support the Piedmont Triad’s high-potential entrepreneurial companies, PTP NEXT today announced five semi-finalists for its semi-annual grant competition. These companies are now in the running for a grant of up to $50,000 based on projects outlined in their proposal.
Key factors for judging the grant include scalable growth, innovative products, services, processes and/or technologies, and the impact of the grant on the company’s success.
The competition is open to innovation-based entrepreneurial companies that are headquartered in the Piedmont Triad region and have unique products, processes and/or technologies that address large, growing markets, a scalable business model and future job creation.
The semi-finalists will be recognized at a May 1, event at Winston-Salem’s Biotech Place (http://ptpnext.com/ptp-next-at-wake-forest-biotech-place/). The event will feature a keynote address by Jud Bowman, founder and CEO of Appia. Bowman has been named as one of the world’s “Top 100 Young Innovators” by MIT’s Technology Review and one of “Tech’s Best Young Entrepreneurs” by BusinessWeek.
