The International Civil Rights Center & Museumwill hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on the 50th anniversary of the Greensboro sit-ins. Speakers will include: Franklin McCain, one of the four students who launched the sit-in movement; NC Governor Bev Perdue and US Senator Kay Hagan. Located in the historic 1929 F.W. Woolworth building, the Museum includes 30,000 square feet of exhibit space. The Museum contains the original, fully-restored “whites-only” lunch counter and stools where the Greensboro Four began a six-month protest in 1960.

Tanger Announces $60 million Investment Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. will open a 317,000 sq ft outlet center in eastern Alamance County on I-40/85.
The new outlet center represents a $60 million investment and will include 80 upscale outlet stores including Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, Banana Republic Factory Store, Coach Factory, Gap Outlet, J. Crew, Michael Kors, BCBG/Girls, Nike Factory Store and Tommy Hilfiger. With an estimated 4.5 million visitors each year, the annual economic impact of the outlet center is projected to be $7 million in sales-tax revenue and $200,000 in property tax revenue. Headquartered in Greensboro, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. has 33 centers in 22 states where more than 2,200 stores, operated by 400 different brand-name companies. |
