Lexington Celebrates 26th Annual
Lexington, NC is the Barbecue Capital of the world. Lexington's first barbecue restaurant opened in 1919; today, there are more than 20 slow-cooked pulled pork barbecue restaurants in this Piedmont Triad city of 21,000. Each October, the city celebrates its heritage with the Lexington Barbecue Festival, featuring three barbecue service stations, more than 400 exhibitors, five stages of entertainment featuring local and national artists and a section with rides and games for children. More than 100,000 people attend the festival each year.

Randolph Community College Opens
Randolph Community College celebrated the opening of its Richard Petty Education Center in Asheboro in July 2009. The $1,750,000 building houses the school’s Automotive Systems Technology and Autobody Repair programs, more than doubling the space previously provided to the programs. The building was designed to provide a modern, comfortable, and safe learning atmosphere, while saving costs and energy. |
