Caterpillar Inc. - the largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment will build a new manufacturing plant in Forsyth County. The company plans to create 392 jobs in the next five years and invest $426 million.
IMMIŽ - a leading provider of school bus seats with lap-shoulder belts announced that it will begin manufacturing SafeGuardŽ seats at a new plant in High Point. The company will offer just-in-time deliveries to the Thomas Built Bus facility, just two blocks away.
WhiteRidge Plastics LLC - national supplier of custom-molded plastic parts for the automotive, industrial, agricultural, tool and custom-part markets will expand its operations in Rockingham County. The company plans to create 55 jobs and invest more than $1.2 million in Reidsville.
Bekaert Textiles - Belgian mattress ticking manufacturer is expanding its U.S. headquarters and production operation in Winston-Salem. The company has already added about 40 jobs over the past several months and plans to add another 20 jobs in the next year.

Governor signs JobsNow legislation that will help create jobs
North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue has signed two bills that will help create jobs.
"This jobs package, which was strongly supported by legislators in both parties, gives North Carolina more tools in our economic development toolbox," said Perdue. The JobsNOW legislation provides a number of critical tools for economic development in North Carolina, including:
- Extension of tax credits for businesses that create new jobs and new investment
- A new tax credit for investments in the digital media industry
- Enhancements to North Carolina's film tax credit to increase the state's competitiveness in film production

GTCC's new campus will be home to the
North Carolina Center for Global Logistics
Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) has broken ground on a new campus in Northwest Guilford County, two miles north of Piedmont Triad International Airport.
The initial phase will include site development and the construction of three buildings and a parking deck at an estimated cost of $65 million. The project will be completed by the spring semester of 2013. Programs offered at the new campus will include transportation, aviation and logistics curricula.
The NC Center for Global Logistics, a resource for transportation and supply chain companies and workers in the area, will be located on the new campus. The Center is a public/private partnership that includes 20 institutions of higher education and industrial partners throughout the 12-county Region.
The NC Center for Global Logistics will provide a state-of-the-art industry clearinghouse for inquiries, education, outreach and research. Services to be offered at the Center include; logistics and supply chain education for new and continuing education students and businesses, research programs and consulting as well as logistics conference capabilities. A state-of-the-art teaching warehouse will also be located at the Center. |
