Food Processing

The food processing sector continues to grow within the Piedmont Triad region’s manufacturing cluster and has a significant presence in the workforce. More than 9,500 of the Triad’s workers are employed in industries associated with the processing or distribution of food products. Currently, more than 380 establishments in the food manufacturing, farming and distribution operate in the Piedmont Triad. In addition to the region’s mid-Atlantic location and sophisticated transportation network, companies in the food processing industry benefit from an available and productive workforce as well as government and university research.
