New and Expanding Industry Training Program (NEIT)

North Carolina’s New and Expanding Industry Training Program (NEIT) is offered through North Carolina’s community college system and provides free training for an average of 170 companies and 18,000 trainees each year. Comprising 58 colleges, the North Carolina Community College System is the third largest community college system in the United States.

As part of NEIT, the North Carolina Community College System’s training specialists provide assistance in analyzing work processes and shift requirements while developing customized job training programs for a variety of industries. These tailor-made programs can be made available either on-site at the participating company’s location or at a convenient community college campus.

NEIT also includes pre-employment programs designed to facilitate the identification and selection of qualified job applicants. Through a partnership with the North Carolina Employment Security Commission, companies can avail themselves of no-cost, professional recruitment and screening, thus providing an initial employment pool for selection.

To qualify for NEIT, companies must:

Create 12 or more new jobs during a year in a North Carolina community, over and above their previous 3-year maximum employment level

Fall in one of the following industry categories:

manufacturing
