Duke Energy has started construction on its 22.6-megawatt Stony Knoll Solar power plant in Dobson which is expected to open by the end of 2021. The facility will power the equivalent of 5,000 homes. Once completed, the plant is expected to create about 70 jobs and will also increase local tax revenues for Surry County and local school districts.
