Inmates to Entrepreneurs, a Raleigh-based nonprofit, that offers an eight-week course that teaches ex-convicts how to start their own business launched in Greensboro at The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship in early September. People coming out of prison have difficulty finding jobs so the program’s goal is to teach participants how to start a business for $500 or less. Brian Hamilton, who founded the program in Raleigh more than 20 years ago, said “The real challenge to getting a job is the Internet. All an employer has to do is Google your name and your mugshot comes up.” About 50 people attended the Greensboro launch.
