New Census data released in December shows that North Carolina is among states with the largest population growth in 2017. North Carolina ranks fifth in terms of numeric growth, with an estimated 117,000 new residents in 2017. North Carolina is the ninth most populous state in the U.S. with a population of nearly 10.3 million.
